“The Switchbox Project brings the work of Somerville artists out of the studios and onto city streets.”
Quote from SWITCHBOX, Somerville Arts Council, and ARTOUTDOORS
Public Art on Summer St & Willow Ave
The Somerville Arts Council awarded me the Visual Arts Fellowship in 2022. That summer, I painted a switchbox on Summer St and Willow Ave as a community benefit project. The nature of the Switchbox Project is to connect the artist to the community and spark inspiration in unusual places. Somerville is the kind of city where creative vision can thrive. I’m lucky to live here.
The Pomodori Switchbox is about marginalized experience, being in the struggle together even if the details of your struggle are very different. Tomatoes have been disregarded by Europeans historically and treated as a toxic plant. So, for me, the tomato is a beautiful symbol of resilience.
